Basic Membership for the Voluntary Sector (Free)

Overview

This category includes core disability service organizations whose mandate is to support persons with disabilities, non-profit organizations from the voluntary sector that have dedicated programs or initiatives aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities, and other non-profit organizations from the voluntary sector whose work intersects with the lives of persons with disabilities (e.g., housing, food support, education and training, etc.). It does not include PPSBs: universities, schools, libraries, municipalities. These members’ mandate is not primarily focused on disability services but incorporates significant disability-related work within their broader mission.

Voting

One vote per member organization.

Professional Affiliate Membership (Nominal Fee)

Overview

This category is designed for teams from external entities, private and public sector bodies (PPSBs), such as businesses, academic institutions, libraries, municipalities, government, and consultants, who seek to engage with the disability services community. These members pay a membership fee to access certain resources, consultation opportunities, and participation in organizational activities.

Voting

Non-voting membership.

• · Participation in workshops, conferences, and events to learn about best practices and innovations in the field.

Operations Advisory Team (No Fee)

Overview

This category includes the core committee of individuals representing Core Disability Service Organizations and the Accessibility Directorate of Nova Scotia. This committee assisted in the operational start-up processes of the Disability Partnership and has provided oversight to the coordinator. As membership expands and organizational needs grow, the operational board may restructure by delegating day-to-day responsibilities to staff or committees and transitioning to a governance board.

One vote per member organization.
